How To Change Tailgate Nets
A
durable and high-quality tailgate net could go a long way for a pickup truck. A
tailgate net is a replacement of the standard, metal tailgate and it comes with
a variety of advantages. First, the net improves the fuel mileage and reduces
the air drag, which are issues with a heavy tailgate. The net also improves the
fuel efficiency as well as reduces the weight on the pickup truck which would
be added because of a heavy tailgate. The replacement of a tailgate is a very
simple procedure and does not require much effort, not even drill holes being
made in the pickup and the process is very easy. So here we have briefly listed
all the steps that should be followed carefully to avoid any mistakes:
Step
1:
The
truck should be parked in a safe place before getting started with the
replacement procedure. It would be a good idea to let the engine cool down
first and then remove the tailgate in case it is still attached to the truck.
Step
2:
Now
you should just carefully pull one side or corner away from the pickup and off
of its hinge. If done, do the same thing again for the other corner but make
sure you do that after taking proper precautions. Finally, set aside the
tailgate safely after the rest has been done.
Step
3:
Next,
inspect the truck bed for the three holes which are drilled into either side of
the truck. This would make up for the place on the frame which surrounds the
tailgate edge, where the tailgate would be fixed in position on both sides.
Step
4:
The
tailgate net package needs to be looked through for the net kit. Once the net
kit is out, the brackets and screws need to be found. The next step would be
inserting one screw through the bracket, followed by fixing the screw into one
of the holes which are drilled in the frames.
Step
5:
To
ensure that the screw is fixated perfectly, it should be turned into the
clockwise direction. This should be repeated until the screw fits into the
frame completely.
Step
6:
The
bracket has to be examined thoroughly to make sure that the bracket loop is not
facing in the same direction as the truck’s cab, in a vertical placement.
Step
7:
Now
you are required to repeat the steps 4-6 again for the remaining holes of the pickup
truck. You should then hold the tailgate net in such a way that it makes it
face opposite to the truck’s cab. Get your hands on the bottom left strap and
then insert it into the bottom left bracket loop from the truck’s back part,
towards the cab.
Step
8:
Hold
on to the tailgate net again. Then loop the tailgate net strap through the
strap cinch and pull it tight. Be careful while doing this in order to prevent
damaging the auto part and other parts nearby.
Step
9:
Keep
repeating the previous step for all the other straps. The tension of every
strap should be altered until they are fitted into their spaces completely
well.
Step
10:
Reinstall
all the parts which had been removed to their original positions after the
completion of the straps being installed suitably. A visual inspection of the
vehicle to ensure that there are no loose connections would be helpful. A test
drive to test the fuel efficiency of the pickup is advisable once the
replacement is successful.
