How To Change Hard Top?

The installation oh hard tops is fairly easy in a Jeep as they are designed to be removed and reinstalled with ease. Here is a guide to removing the hard top in order to make room for a soft top or perhaps an open road experience:

 

  • To disassemble the hard top start by removing the side panel above the driver and passenger side (also called the freedom panels).
  • Then inside the cabin, using the appropriate tools remove the bolts holding down the panels. There are around 6 to 8 torx bolts inside the cabin.
  • There are other bolts securing the roof to the frame which are located on top.
  • Then you need to remove the connection to the hardtop located at either end of the vehicle. Once all connections and bolt are off you can free the hardtop from the vehicle frame.
  • There is a designated area to place the loose connection to avoid dangling aimlessly. Secure them in the tabs provided near the connections.
  • Store the hard top and all ist panels in a dry and secure area, ready for resignation.
  • To reinstall simply follow the above steps in reverse order.
