Your Car Air Conditioning Service Guide
What Is Air Conditioning Service?
Air
conditioning has become a standard feature in most modern cars and needs
regular maintenance to ensure long service life. When auto air conditioning systems
have a refrigerant leak refrigerant is not only harmful to the environment, but
it's also harmful to the car. Leaking refrigerant can damage the vehicle's
evaporator and compressor. In addition to the loss of refrigerant, bacteria and
fungus may also build up in the cabin filter and eventually cause unpleasant
odors if the air conditioning system is not cleaned properly. For these reasons
air conditioning service is important.
Types Of Air Conditioning Service
- Air
conditioning service can include cleaning or changing of the car cabin air filter.

a car air conditioner service at the first sign of trouble will save you both
money and time.

- Air
conditioning cooling gets improved after service.
- The
air conditioning belt gets checked and adjusted while air conditioning
services.
- While
charging Air conditioning refrigerant air conditioning oil is changed.
- Cleaning of the evaporator is done while air conditioning services.
- Air conditioning refrigerant can be recovered in an Air conditioning recovery machine
How Does Air Conditioning Service Work?
The
air condition system has many parts like compressor, evaporator, heater core,
pressure pipes, etc. That has to be checked and serviced. Proper servicing of
the air condition system will ensure prolonged life and better heat and cold
retention and discharge depending on the application. In air conditioning
service, the refrigerant is charged and leakage of the refrigerant is checked.
Refrigerant leak detector tools such as Ultraviolet Leak Detection and air
conditioning gas filling machines can be a great advantage for air conditioning
service work. Specialized tools have been implemented for the servicing process
of the HVAC system in a car as the system is quite complicated and the liquid
is harmful to humans and the environment
Frequent Problems With Air Conditioning Service
If
AC is not cooling the problem could be AC gas leakage, the clutch of the
compressor faulty, belt loose or damaged, expansion valve not working, socket
or connector damage, the fuse has blown out, less or no refrigerant filled in
the system are some of the reasons.

Total Costs & Repair Times, Effort For Air Conditioning Service

servicing the air conditioning service, labor would cost about $100 to $150,
depending on the type of vehicle and the problem which has to be repaired. To
service the air conditioning, it may take about 45 to 60 minutes.
How To Change Air Conditioning Expansion Valve?
Open
the bonnet and connect the recovery machine pipe to the car’s high and
low-pressure pipe. Open the valves or the recovery machine pipe. After a few
settings on the machine start the recovery machine to evacuate the gas from the
system. This might take as much as 20 minutes. Locate the expansion valve and
it will be located somewhere under the hood, under the cowl or near the
firewall. Remove the expansion valve. It
will have at least two refrigerant lines going to it and maybe connected with
two screws. Remove the pipes and then remove the expansion valve. Whenever an
air conditioning line is disconnected, the O rings should be replaced with new
ones. Fit the new expansion valve and carefully reconnect the lines to the
expansion valve and install the fasteners. It’s easy to get them on crooked, so
if they do not thread on easily, check and be sure that the connections are
straight. Tighten all bolts properly and fill the appropriate amount of gas in it.
After completion check AC for cooling.
